I was preparing to attend a national political convention—along with debates, elegant galas, formal dinners, and other important events. These were not ordinary rooms. People noticed how you entered, carried yourself, spoke, and handled attention. I knew I needed to prepare for more than the trip—I needed to prepare myself.
